An Earlier Conversation is a permanent artwork commissioned for the Hangang Art Park in Seoul, South Korea. It is a collaboration between Michael Thomas Hill and Indigo Hanlee.
Eleven copper stalks with gramophone horns stand together in the middle of the park. The horns play an immersive soundscape; snippets of bees, birds, old vinyl records and synthesised musical sounds that mix the natural with the man-made.
They continue an earlier conversation between the river, its visitors and those that call it their home.
This artwork was installed in August 2018 on the Han River, South Korea.
Special thanks to Jisuk Han, Gary Warner and the Hangang Art Park team for all their help.
